Continuing Vision

At first, Living Light met in people’s homes and in rented facilities, but by 1993, the congregation had grown to approximately 120 adults and children, and it was at this point that the current building in Kenosha was purchased. The congregation continued to grow steadily in numbers and in understanding of God’s purpose for His church. Tim Pingitore had served as the sole elder of the congregation since 1987, but in 1994, Don Dejno and John Lalgee were appointed as elders alongside him.

As part of a commitment to see people equipped to fulfill that purpose, Living Light began to run full-time training programs, starting with Evangelism Teams from 2000-2003, then the School of Worship, which began in 2001 and continues today.

In 2003, John Lalgee was sent out with his wife, Kim, and their four children to Taunton, England, where he planted what has become a thriving related congregation. This was an affirmation of the apostolic gifting that had already been evident in his life and from which Living Light in Kenosha had significantly benefited. In 2004, Keri Jones released the apostolic care of Living Light to John. John and his family have now moved back to the U.S.A. and he is heading up the new congregation that he planted in October 2007 in Racine, WI (Kenosha’s neighboring city to the north). In his apostolic role, John continues to be very involved in the life and direction of the church here in Kenosha, while continuing to have oversight for the church in Taunton and also for Covenant Life Church in Cadillac, Michigan. He is also overseeing the current planting out of our newest congregation, in Pleasant Prairie, WI (Kenosha's neghboring village to the south).

The above developments are the beginnings of the outworking of three very significant things that God has repeatedly spoken prophetically to Living Light over the years:

  • That apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers would be raised up in our midst;
  • That God would bring people to us from the nations of the world and send people out from us to the nations of the world;
  • That we would plant churches built upon Biblical foundations.

We are excited at the prospect of seeing more of the above in the future. For now, God continues to add people to us, and the congregations in Kenosha, Racine and Pleasant Prairie currently comprise around 400 adults and children, with new people arriving every week.
